Dan Foulds is a retired Special Operations Army Aviator. He served as a flight lead and standardization instructor pilot in B Company 3/160 from 1989 until his retirement from the Army in 1998. After retiring
he flew medevac helicopters for 17 years, and it was while doing this in Savannah that he met a flight nurse named Jeanne and married her! Concurrent with his civil medevac service Dan presented Crew
Resource Management training to EMS flight teams all over America, and during his time doing this the fatal accident rate for EMS helicopter crews dropped dramatically. He also wrote the “Focus on Safety” column for Vertical Valor magazine for five years. After hanging up his wings, Dan became a mate and then a captain on Mike Neal’s Bull River Cruises boats. He and Jeanne started Island Shuttle Boat Tours when the new Savannah Boathouse Marina opened in 2021.
Jeanne was an ER and flight nurse for 30 years before retiring due to health issues (now resolved). She keeps Dan and the boat tour business straight—no small feat! Jeanne was LifeStar Savannah’s only
Certified Registered Flight Nurse (CFRN), and she dealt with the sickest of the sick and seriously tore-up trauma patients on a regular basis. If you live in or near Savannah you may have seen Jeanne’s image
plastered on the side of a Cat Bus or on a billboard, as she was Memorial Hospital’s “poster nurse” for a couple of years.
